.SHORT TERM... 100 PM CDT

Through Wednesday...

High pressure centered over west central Illinois this afternoon will be in control, continuing the quiet weather conditions as the high shifts slowly east on Wednesday. Fair weather Cumulus will dissipate this evening, with just passing high clouds overnight into early Wednesday, followed by the Cu returning mid to late Wednesday morning. Early morning low temperatures should be a bit milder than Tuesday`s, followed by similar high temperatures to today, with progged 925 mb temperatures again in the upper teens Celsius. A lake breeze will keep shore areas slightly cooler once again.

.LONG TERM... 218 PM CDT

Wednesday night through Tuesday...

Broad upper-level troughing is expected to dominate across much of the Great Lakes Region through the period. This is likely to result in near, to below average temperatures, with highs mainly in the mid to upper 70s from Friday into early next week. This cooler airmass will follow a cold frontal passage Thursday night. This cold front, and an associated mid-level disturbance may also produce a few showers, and possibly a thunderstorm, especially late Thursday into Thursday night as it approaches the area. However, following this system there will be little chance of appreciable rain (aside from a passing shower or two over the weekend) through the rest of the period as dry and cool high pressure settles over the area through the weekend.

.AVIATION... For the 00Z TAFs...

Quiet aviation weather conditions expected to continue through the TAF period.

Surface high pressure centered over northern IL early this evening will drift slowly east through Wednesday. VFR conditions and light winds expected to persist. In the near-term, lake breeze boundary had pushed through MDW and GYY earlier, and wast 3-4 NM east of ORD at 2330Z. Expect the lake breeze to continue to drift west across ORD early this evening, though with little push and east- southeast winds less than 10 kts developing briefly behind it.

On Wednesday, similar conditions are expected, though with perhaps a slightly earlier lake breeze passage and a more southeasterly wind direction expected behind it.

.MARINE... 218 PM CDT

High pressure over the Southern Lakes Region and into the Ohio Valley will continue to produce a westerly wind across much of the lake into Wednesday. Thereafter, expect winds to turn southerly in response to low pressure moving over the Upper- Midwest. This low is expected to shift over the lake Thursday night into Friday morning. Expect northerly flow to return over the lake in the wake of this front. Another surface high is then likely to set up over the lakes region again later in the weekend and into early next week.
