.LONG TERM... 253 AM CDT

Tuesday through Sunday...

Only real weather potential weather of note in the longer term period is with remnants of Irma.

Upper level ridging over the Great Lakes early this week will hel Pdeflect the remnants of Irma westward as it gain latitude. The result looks to be Irma`s leftovers potentially getting close enough to our area to bring some rain showers and certainly a marked increase in cloud cover. High cloudiness from Irma will spread in from the southeast Tuesday with shower chances slowly creeping in from the southeast as well by Tuesday night and particularly Wednesday. Irma and associated forcing will be weakening as it approaches and our area is forecast to be on the northwest flank of the system, so rainfall amounts at this point look like they`ll be pretty light and may not amount to anything northwest half of the CWA.

Irma`s remnants is progged to get picked up by the westerlies later Wednesday, exiting our region stage right Wednesday night. In its wake, medium range guidance suggests a transition toward a western trough/eastern ridge pattern late in the week which would result in a warm up to above average temps by next weekend. Weak cold front looks to move through later Sunday or Monday, which an associated risk for some rain and eventually cooler temps in its wake.

.AVIATION... For the 06Z TAFs...

Clear skies will make way for increasing cirrus from the southeast through the afternoon and evening. High pressure over the eastern Great Lakes will slowly drift a bit farther east today, which will still support an east wind though a tad lighter than in past days. KMD

.MARINE... 205 AM CDT

High pressure over the eastern Great Lakes will shift to the New England coast by Tuesday, though the associated ridge axis will linger over the Lake Michigan for a good portion of the week. There is a cold front across Ontario, but Lake Michigan will remain on its warm side through the week. This will result in south-southwest wind of 15-25 kt across the north half of the lake today. Otherwise, conditions will be fairly quiet until possibly next weekend as another front will approach from the west and south winds will increase across the entire lake.
