445 AM CDT THU APR 9 2015
THIS HAZARDOUS WEATHER OUTLOOK IS FOR NORTH CENTRAL ILLINOIS...
NORTHEAST ILLINOIS AND NORTHWEST INDIANA.
.DAY ONE...TODAY AND TONIGHT.
WEATHER HAZARDS EXPECTED:
THUNDERSTORMS...SOME MAY BE SEVERE AND PRODUCE:
LOCALLY HEAVY RAINFALL RESULTING IN LOCALIZED FLOODING.
HAIL TO TWO INCHES IN DIAMETER.
WIND GUSTS TO 70 MPH.
FREQUENT CLOUD TO GROUND LIGHTNING.
ISOLATED TORNADOES.
AREAS AFFECTED AND TIMING:
SEVERAL CLUSTERS OF SCATTERED THUNDERSTORMS WILL LIKELY
AFFECT THE AREA AT TIMES THROUGH MIDDAY. SOME OF THESE STORMS
INITIALLY COULD PRODUCE LARGE HAIL. SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS WILL
LIKELY BECOME MORE NUMEROUS FROM MID AFTERNOON THROUGH EARLY
THIS EVENING...WITH DAMAGING WINDS...LARGE HAIL AND THE
POTENTIAL FOR TORNADOES MOST LIKELY DURING THE LATE AFTERNOON
AND EARLY EVENING HOURS. THE THREAT OF THUNDERSTORMS SHOULD
DECREASE QUICKLY WITH THE PASSAGE OF THE COLD FRONT THIS EVENING.
DISCUSSION:

OF THE OUTLOOK AREA. THE STRONGEST OF THESE STORMS MAY HAVE THE

THE FRONT WILL LIFT NORTH AS A WARM FRONT AHEAD OF AN APPROACHING
AREA OF DEEP LOW PRESSURE. THE THREAT OF SEVERE WEATHER WILL
GENERALLY INCREASE DURING THE AFTERNOON AS A MORE UNSTABLE AIR
MASS SPREADS NORTH WITH THE WARM FRONT. IT IS SOMEWHAT UNCLEAR
HOW THE EFFECTS OF EARLIER STORMS WILL AFFECT STORM EVOLUTION
THIS AFTERNOON...BUT IT IS LIKELY THAT SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS WILL
DEVELOP AND BECOME ORGANIZED AHEAD OF THE COLD FRONT LATE THIS
AFTERNOON AND EARLY THIS EVENING...AND IT IS AT THIS TIME THAT
THE GREATEST THREAT OF DAMAGING WINDS...LARGE HAIL AND A FEW
TORNADOES WILL OCCUR. THE LOW PASS ACROSS WISCONSIN THIS
THIS EVENING...WITH THE TRAILING COLD FRONT PUSHING ACROSS THE
OUTLOOK AREA FROM WEST TO EAST AND EXITING BY MIDNIGHT. THE
THREAT OF THUNDERSTORMS AND SEVERE WEATHER WILL DECREASE
QUICKLY WITH THE PASSAGE OF THE FRONT.
IN ADDITION...DENSE FOG IS LIKELY THIS MORNING ACROSS NORTHEAST
ILLINOIS.
.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...FRIDAY THROUGH WEDNESDAY.
THERE IS A CHANCE OF THUNDERSTORMS SUNDAY NIGHT...AND AGAIN
TUESDAY INTO WEDNESDAY.
.SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT...
SPOTTER ACTIVATION WILL LIKELY BE NEEDED THIS AFTERNOON AND
THIS EVENING.
